I know the votes are closed but I choose Big L

don't get me wrong , Big Punisher was a top notch emcee, but Big L was more lyrical imo, especially Big Ls metaphors and punchlines, and he had a good flow too

Big L wouldve been Cassidy status by 2004/5, Pun was dropping all types of hits and probably woulda had a second classic after Capital Punishment if he kept rapping

Big L ain't reach Cassidy levels

Hope this dont come off like an anti L crusade cause I ain't on it like that.... but homeboy was a local legend.. like the Mac Dre of Harlem (n even thats being extra generous)

I’m not familiar with Mac Dre to that level, but did he tour Japan and certain countries in Europe like L did?

I know some Japanese and former Yugoslavians who know and liked his music. Not even speaking on London or Paris people I know that like him, including young white kids I worked with who knew him from YT and that Jay Z freeatyle

:what:

Y'all seriously be buggin' the f*ck out on here.

yall seriously be nearsighted as fukk on here

from eating up mixtapes and freestyle circuits... to dropping several albums with hits of varying manigtude , and a career denounment of entering back into modern battle rap scene

im not no Cassidy champion... hell, i recall him not living up to all the hype he generated and being disappointing . Even with all that centered his career is MUCH more layered and accomplished than L.

And cassidy aint have to get killed to become a national name

I'm talking talent.

L was in a whole different league. Cassidy ain't on nobody's Top-anything. So those two dudes shouldn't even be brought up in the same sentence. One is a global legend, the other was Swizz's sidekick before Swizz called him "wack" and dropped him.

It just sounds like you didn't know who he was when he was alive.

But your lack of knowledge doesn't diminish what dude was doing in the game since '91. L was touring with Nas and Common when they were both dropping their best albums. during the golden era. He was already an underground legend by then. Just off features and freestyles. The actual legends in Hip Hop speak on L's talent and legacy. Dude had Jay-Z on his debut before Jay even dropped his own first album. Premier always says L is one of his favorite MC's of all-time. So this is how highly regarded he was way before he died. Don’t disrespect dude because you didn't know who he was. The GOAT's speak about him all the time and worked with him when he was here.

Ain't nobody bringing up no damn Cassidy. Dude was always a bum.

I've never challenged that...all that can be true and then some... hence my folklore statement

local legend ...he had time and a platform abd wasted it with a dud. In that sense he can be compared to Cassidy cause they both dropped disappointments after underground hype
