It's shame the label didn't market and push this release properly. I'll still take the highs on HOF over this.

You didn't think they marketed it well? What do you think they should've done better? He had that crazy show during All Star Weekend, Complex cover, lots of press everywhere, IDFWU still seems inescapable on radio, they cleared some good samples for him (esp. on Play No Games), got him good guest appearances, saw a lot of Def Jam support on social media. Curious about what you think they could've done better

I know that you're trying to defend Sean here but you're actually making him look quite pathetic. He apparently had good promo for the album and yet he's going to see less than 150K in his first week.

Sean, as I mentioned in my previous post, is benefiting from low expectations. If his previous albums didn't all sell poorly, we would all be laughing at his current sales despite having a PR relationship and increased promo.

I've tried to listen to this album all the way through but too many of the songs sound like Drake throwaways and there's something about Big Sean's voice that annoys me to no end.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: I thought HOF was better than this. HOF is/was an enjoyable listen and Little Sean didn't sound desperate on each track.

Yeah I feel that - I guess I'm not too crazy about another single yet because the singles he has don't seem to have lost steam yet. I think the Ariana collab or Play No Games will start going once Blessings and IDFWU die down

Not trying to defend Sean, just saying that I thought the label was doing its job. And are his first week numbers really that bad? 135,577 sold, with 167,742 after streams are factored in. I feel you about low expectations, but as of Sept. 2013, Hall of Fame had only done like 104k; haven't seen updated numbers since then, but it looks like he may have already outsold his last album's total numbers in one week. Are there more than 10 artists selling 100k+ in their first week? Jay, Kanye, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Drake, Kendrick, Nicki, Eminem, Wale, who else? Not saying they're top tier numbers, but it's far from flop/laugh-worthy numbers.

Definitely have a right to your opinion RE: the album, but this is being recognized as his breakthrough record. I thought Hall of Fame got a bad wrap too; didn't love it all the way through, but I thought it had some gems. I still listen to a few songs from it.
