Going to police(which is what it seems the dispensary did?), paying someone else for protection(I think this is what TI did when Wack was pressuring him and linked with Big U?) or killing the person trying to extort you. Last one is hard in this case since it's a leader of a big gang.

In La Eme/Mexican Mafia, they run run the same game, as someone like Big U. it's criminal enterprise extortion. if you from the hood, hustle in the hood, and aren't a shotcaller, you are paying taxes.

It's usually people who WANT to be down, because it benefits them in some way. They use the muscle to intimidate or collect debts. Or they start out like that, until they realize the big homies are a bunch of washed up creeps most of the time. I personally know someone who is doing 40 years for committing a robbery for the benefit of a street gang.

The easiest thing is just don't work in the neighborhood. Don't hang with the homies. Don't work with them. Just walk away.

Those guys reach only goes so far But the hustles that they are in are all interconnected.Their dope clients are in the hood and from the hood. The girls they pimp are in the hood. The clubs they promote for are gangster spots.

Also, if you are known for action, you won't really get taxed, if you are with a different click.
