Hoops will surpass futbol before I die, and Olympic basketball will trump a world cup in cultural significance within 50 years.

They do, FIBA world championships, but Olympic basketball is more respected to most and the gold medal in Olympics means way more.

You can do all of those things easier with soccer. Basketball needs at least an inflated ball and a hoop, soccer can be played with rolled up socks and rocks on any surface. Soccer is the definitely the most accessible sport in the world.

I Think your underestimating the accessibility of soccer. You don't need 22 people to play a pick up game and pick up games can generally be played on just about every surface you mentioned. A key accessibility issue that you're missing that soccer has over basketball is height and the necessary athletic ability needed to play basketball over soccer. Those two facts alone are why I think soccer will probably remain number 1.

I Think your underestimating the accessibility of soccer. You don't need 22 people to play a pick up game and pick up games can generally be played on just about every surface you mentioned. A key accessibility issue that you're missing that soccer has over basketball is height and the necessary athletic ability needed to play basketball over soccer. Those two facts alone are why I think soccer will probably remain number 1.
