That futbol's place as the #1 global sport is permenant....in reality, basketball has just as few barriers to entry, and the different ways and combinations you can play (5 on 5, 3 on 3, 2 on 2, 1 on 1, 21, half court, full court, HORSE..on dirt...pavement...hardwood...driveway, street...in your bedroom on the back of the door...etc) make it a SIGNIFICANTLY more accessible sport than soccer.

Hoops will surpass futbol before I die, and Olympic basketball will trump a world cup in cultural significance within 50 years.
1) NO...

2) You have OBVIOUSLY not grown in a soccer playing country...The many ways you can play soccer are SIGNIFICANTLY more variable than basketball...You don't even need a football made in China...

People in Africa just role bunch of old t-shirts in a grocery bag, tie it with some rope et voila, they are on streets playing football...

3) Basketball is EXCLUSIVELY for tall people...The average Human Being has NO realistic chance of being a great basketball player at the highest level...

A young boy may grow up idolizing LeBron James, but eventually that boy turns 16 and realizes that the tallest he will ever be is maybe 5'10"...But young boys see a 5'5" or even shorter Messi DOMINATING, and it inspires them to continue loving the game...

4) In Conclusion, Basketball will NEVER be more popular than Soccer in our lifetime...Anybody can play soccer, basketball is for tall people...Therefore, the majority of people in the world are genetically excluded from ever being great ball players at the highest level...

Also, it takes MORE skills to play soccer than to play basketball...Human hands are DESIGNED to do what basketball players do with the ball...Our feet aren't...What soccer players do with the ball is "UNNATURAL"...Our feet are not designed for that level of dexterity...

No athletic sport will EVER be more popular than soccer in our lifetime, unless it is just another derivative of soccer...

The notion that a story in the media is going to affect how a player performs on the field or court. These athletes get paid millions of dollars and have played in 100's to 1000's of games. You mean to tell me that an elite defensive end can play through a concussion or all sorts of fractures & bruises but will be affected psychologically during a game because the crowd and talking heads have a sour opinion of him?

The biggest misconception is that athletes "quit" or dont give full effort because they dont respect their coach or in football, their quarterback

Once in a lifetime opportunity to be a pro athlete and you think dudes throwing it away because they dont like someone :mjlol:

Where is Basketball in Sport popularity worldwide

what top 5? top 3 perhaps?

Probably #3 after Football and Cricket

Didn't Lebron say that's exactly what happened to him during the first year with the Heat?
