I think his main point is that without puff/clive/iovine/etc having stake in pac & big, there wouldn't be half as much hype surrounding their death for the past 20 years.

yea, they would still be legends. but they wouldn't be worshipped like gods.

puff went on to sign murda mase & the warlox. hes good without biggie.

without puff, biggie wouldn't be anywhere near as big as he was.

they both benefited from each other.

that girl aint no teenager.

she was alive before biggie blew up.

If you look at the Bad Boy release time line without BIG, Puff wouldn't be a figure in rap at all outside of the occasional remix.

1. Craig Mack....which flopped.
2. Faith
3. Total
4. 112
5. Puff Daddy & The Family....minus BIG
6. Mase
7. The Lox
8. Faith (again)
9. Total (again)
10. 112 (again)

That's Bad Boy releases from '94 to '98 minus BIG.

Also keep in mind no BIG on shyt like "Victory", or Craig Mack's remix, or the Total remix, or the 112 album. Arguably no Lil Kim or Junior Mafia on any Bad Boy releases, either.

I realize BIG benefited from Puff but BIG altered his entire label for the better. And I seriously doubt people would've accepted the shiny suit, pop shyt Bad Boy was on without BIG. They barely accepted it with BIG.

didn't craig mack go gold?

the timeline would've been different. that's all.

he could've easily fueled the label off of mase & the lox minus the shiney suits. and there was plenty of other talent to choose from. plus mase was in a much better crew than junior mafia breh. we could've got COC collabos, which could've led to cam & big l signing to bad boy. hell, is junior mafia even better than harlem world? meanwhile, biggie would've got signed elsewhere and the peak of his commercial success would've been cracking the rap city top 10. most of biggie's bad boy hits & remix spots could've easily just went to them.

Yeah, because Mary J. Blige, Jodeci and Usher are rappers, right? :martin:

I said he wouldn't be a figure IN RAP.

Unless you think Craig Mack, Mase and The Lox could hold down that angle as well as BIG....whose careers were actually propped up by BIG....in which case you're insane.
