Do people even ask themselves why Pac released so much rubbish over a short period of time? Dont lie to yourselves, most of that unreleased stuff is unreleased for a reason.
I think he felt touched about all the love Biggie was getting, all the critical and vast public acclaim about how talented and gifted Biggie was. Something no one had ever said to Pac ..yeah thats right. When Pac was alive he was never top rapper anything. He was always described as being 'controversial'..never mentioned in any top rapper list in terms of skill. Dont try to change history. Pac hated the fact that the fat slob from Brooklyn he let sleep on his couch was being called the greatest rapper ever. And other rappers were agreeing and co-signing it. Biggie was on top faster than you could imagine and now Pac and every other rapper in the industry had a problem. Pacs career had been built around linking controversy and simple heartfelt poetic songs to gain momentum in the charts. Biggie came in differently. He didnt have the looks and controversy, but raw amazing talent that you cant compete against.
Pac going to jail then getting bailed by Suge, then signing for Death Row meant his controversial image was working again. He was set up to be the biggest rapper but the rise of Biggie was too much to deal with and Pac spent sleepless days and nights, weeks and months living in the studio obsession about Biggie and trying to outdo or outrap Biggie. thats why he put out so much music, while Biggie being secure in his talent and role as Hip hops supreme mc and King was on vacation.
Biggie didnt need to live in the studio like basic rappers do, which Pac was. He was as basic as a-b-c.
Nas doesn't live in the studio and neither does Jay or G-Rap..its basic cats with limited talent that need those extra study lessons.
You wrap certain truths in a shyt load of lies. I honestly do feel Pac's anger stems from a lot of things.
I think Pac IMO felt "hurt" that Biggie is rolling with the nikkas that shot him/involved. Plus Pac said Biggie didn't let him know who shot him after he told him (I think he heard from some nikkas in prison or through Stretch or E Money Bags not sure 100%). Im not saying it was Biggie's responsibility but maybe Pac expected more since he let him sleep at his place, allowed him to open up shows for him, took a gun charge for him, and let Biggie "slide" after he stole his album concept (Pac had to scrap it and he then made MATW). But what put their beef over the edge was Puff and Suge's existing beef muddling into Pac and Big's and this made it bigger than it already was.
I remember this shyt exactly, Biggie was EXTREMELY lucky when he debuted. He had a good supporter (Puff) and New York was coming back after West Coast dominance with the help of Nas and Wu Tang, and Biggie was the icing on the cake. Pac in the other hand debuted in a competitive West Coast scene and he didn't have access to good producers early on.
And I think you underrate Pac extremely. Pac had talent and a lot of people loved his music, but in 91-93 he was barely entering his 4th year as a solo rapper. People always criticize Biggie and 2pac for not dominating outta the gate/or long enough, but they don't realize they were not even rappers for a long time. They came and left.
And working endless hours in the studio means you take your profession seriously and your work hard, it doesn't coincide with being "basic" (extremely flawd logic btw). Pac being in the studio cemented his legacy that's why cats keep making threads about Pac. Only time someone mentions the "supreme MC" on the coli is when his name is thrown in Pac's thread or when its his anniversary of his death.
