You'd have to pay the women too. Aka will never ever happen unless football and men's basketball become sovereign from the NCAA.

Pay them - then send them all a bill for university-provided facilities and services, even the ones who never make a professional league and thus have little means to pay:

Tuition/Room/Board: $28k/year
Training Room and Live Coaching Services: $25k/year
Film Study and Personal Evaluation: $2K/year
Insurance and Injury treatments: $10K/year
Equipment and Uniforms: $5K/year
Game Transportation/Lodging/Promotions: $12K/year

Rough Total: $82K
Damn the comments to that article are idiotic

Are people really this stupid.....does google or any of the high end companies charge their employees ridiculous fees to attract cream of the crop talent:russ:Its built into the employee benefit packages

Saw a story yesterday about a rb from Georgia being denied transfer to certain schools.....if this is modern day form of slavery

Also people want to separate athletics from academics.....:mjlol: Sure lets go back to the early days of college sports with ivy league schools winning everything with cacs running around......I'm sure that wouldnt hurt the ratings or revenue the schools generate:usure:.....big time schools with big time football and bball programs would never go for that, too much $$$ woild be lost......

If college football threatened this, it would be a real issue....even for a regular season game.

As it stands though, why wold you bust ur butt(for free) to GET to the Final Four, then not play in it? :dwillhuh:

The Olympic model is an end around to Title IX. Everyone would be equally able to monetize their likeness

They deserve to earn money, period.

Never mind all the perks and 'free ride' they get, the colleges (and ncaa) make that money 10 times over.

Should've done it, or at very least delay the start of the game.

What's with the mindset of "nevermind the full ride scholarship"?

I'm not playing devil's advocate, I'm genuinely interested in this position.

A student accepts a full ride scholarship in exchange for their services as an athlete.

How is this not a form of payment, especially if the student accepted the terms of the agreement ahead of time?
