The Cosby Show alumna is joining Ray Donovan‘s upcoming fourth season in a major recurring role, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Bonet, whose more recent TV credits include arcs on SundanceTV’s The Red Roadand ABC’s short-lived Life on Mars, will play Marisol, an unstable woman with a damaging secret.

This marks the Showtime drama’s fourth new Season 4 hire, following the casting of Gabriel Mann (Revenge), Ted Levine (Monk) and Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Good Wife).

He's had a lot of people on who were just starting out. They didn't blow up to mega stars except Angela Bassett, but he had Blair Underwood, Robin Givens, the soap opera dude that wore mix-matched socks. Our favorite bedwench, Stacy Dash. He even had dikk Vitale and Jimmy V on there playing pest control workers. The Cosby show more so highlighted Black culture in terms of art, jazz, dance, hip hop. What Cosby provided was more important than who he put on.

He wasn't all that powerful, that's obvious. Tyler Perry had more power 5 years ago than Cosby did in his peak.
Cosby was influential though.
There's a difference between the two.

Stop judging power by what you can see with your two eyes. By the time power manifests visually it's too late to do anything about it. He was neutralized.

Imagine 2Pac never caught the rape charge. Never died. All the men in the field who respect him, chicks around the world who'll listen when he speaks. Decades later he's finally got the focus to put a direct plan in motion. Then they hit him with the rape charge from the mid 90's.

What I also like and appreciate about Bill Cosby with his show and A different world it was the first and only show to glorify HBU's. And it made going to school a cool thing for blacks. A positive outlook on staying in school and achieving, and remember how serious he always made graduating from university in the show.

Never before have u seen any TV show highlight young black males getting an education the way Cosby did.

I wld be willing to bet if not for a different world and Cosby show 75% of the HBU's out there wldnt be here still.

Also, Debbie Allen did great in TV thanks to bill Cosby. Also 1 of Quincy Jones early introductions to prime time TV was doing the music for Cosby show. Those contacts may have helped with Quincy's later foray into TV, fresh prince of bel air.

The only 2 people still working and still successful that are connected to Bill Cosby in tv/film is Raven and Adam Sandler.

Sure Cosby put Raven on and made a lane for her but Adam Sandler was BARELY on the show.

He gave black people some jobs for a few years that they would have likely never had, but he's far from the major player that some people think he is.

I can argue that Chris Rock has done 50-60% of the putting people on that Bill Cosby has done.
