Bill Gates Talks Climate Peril and Election 2016 (Oh, and Beyoncé)

How do you feel about Beyoncé using your name in the lyrics of her latest song?

Yeah, I hadn’t realized that she did that until somebody in the office actually sent me a copy of the lyrics and I said, “Are you serious? This is kind of a strange set of words here.” I’m surprised—I’m not sure she said those words at the Super Bowl, though, did she?

I’m not sure, I’d have to look back. [Ed note: She did.] But it’s one of the lyrics that’s been passed around a lot.

I guess it’s nice that people consider me successful. I actually haven’t met Beyoncé. I know Jay-Z, because when I did some humor right when I was retiring from Microsoft—he was nice about participating in that, and did a great job on that. I guess I should do a Bing search and see if there are more uses of my name that I don’t know about.

That whole aligning yaself as the Black version of a famous white people fad is dead. The nail in the coffin for all of that was when KD Aubert kept refering to herself as The Black Angelina Jolie while Angelina Jolie never refered to herself as the White KD Aubert

Bill Gates' response is the same response i made.

How do you know how he responded?

It might've been "Are you serious?" :takedat:
"Are you serious?" :to:

"Are you serious?" :gladbron:

"Are you serious?":scust:

"Are you serious?" :mjlol:

And on, with Bill Gates geeky & positive swag it was probably the Lebron one.

Furthermore, it's a "trap/ratchet attitude" song, so the lyrics are pretty shytty however I see nothing wrong with dreaming about becoming a black Bill Gates :what:.
Not even the black, just to be another Bill Gates cause there's few people if any who have done what he's done for the world, black or white.

U see nothing wrong?

@That Singer Guy... already explained that it doesnt make sense to wanna be a Black version of a rich white person when you are Beyonce/Jay Z.....you already represent wealth. Plus BG represents a nerd and Jay Z and Bey represent the cool kids in class. Since when did the cool kids wanna be nerds?

Also....BG once addressed Black folks in poor neighborhoods and said that they should be protesting for better education with the same energy as they did in the civil rights movement. That was deep. BG was basically saying that the school system is f'd up and they need to come together and change it. BG was probably looking at this succesful Black man and woman saying they wanted to be the Black version of him and shook his head thinking "Even when they get wealthy they are still brainwashed into thinking they have to be asscociated with white"

i thought the line went hand in hand with the song on the radio line.

ill get your song on the radio, and you might be the next blahblahblah,
then she says SHE could be too.

i thought it had to do with doing something that would bring mass wealth
