Idk. This is slippery slope of letting folks come over and rewrite the rules. It sets precedent. The courts literally make atheists swear with their hands on the Bible. I vaguely remember that being a thing of contention.

America is on the verge of being done when the good folks start to check out. It starts with Qu’ran then they’re on Capitol Hill pushing those silly Islamic laws and beliefs.
This is not a slippery-slope. It's the Constitution working as intended. He's following the rules by using whichever religious text he chooses. This is the religious freedom people in this country pretend to believe in. This isn't a Christian nation. There are no rules that says a Bible has to be used. And if the courts historically defaulted to the Bible, then that's proof Christianity is being treated as the default religion in a country that's supposed to be secular, which undermines your belief.

Your Islamic law claim is just fearmongering. There is zero legal pathway for Islamic law to replace US law. Christian nationalism, on the other hand, is already shaping policy, with abortion bans being the clearest example of the State enforcing specific Christian doctrine. Even then, Christianity still isn't the law of the land, but it comes a lot closer than Islam ever has or will. You're intentionally conflating someone's personal faith with governing authority, and that's just dishonest.

Look up Epic City in Texas.

The U.S. Department of Justice has officially closed its investigation into EPIC City, a proposed Muslim-centered community in North Texas.

The project is affiliated with the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), one of the largest mosques in the region.

The DOJ's decision comes after U.S. Sen. John Cornyn raised concerns about potential religious discrimination tied to the development.

Attorney calls probe political

Dan Cogdell, a criminal defense attorney representing both EPIC and the EPIC City organizers, called the investigation politically motivated.

"Several politicians have tried to pervert these so-called investigations for their political benefit," Cogdell said. "Ultimately, I think it will backfire."

He added that the DOJ's decision to drop the case is a win for the project and reaffirmed that the development will move forward.

EPIC City still under state review

EPIC City is planned for 400 acres in Josephine, pending approval from Collin County Commissioners.

The developers, Community Capital Partners, say the community will be open to people of all faiths. However, the project still faces at least three ongoing investigations from state agencies, including the Texas Attorney General's Office and the Texas Workforce Commission.

"Never in 42 years of practicing criminal defense have I seen the number and absurdity of the accusations lodged here," Cogdell said. "We will comply fully and completely."

Why are you so open to believing right-wing political posturing?

But that's how Muslims entrenched themselves in foreign societies, the sword included..so what do we owe Asian Muslims to the point we avoid discussing their bullshyt??
Right, much better to do it through wholesome genocide and slavery like the Christians did.

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents Congress from making laws respecting an establishment of religion; prohibiting the free exercise of religion;

In the United States, freedom of religion is a constitutionally protected right provided in the religion clauses of the First Amendment.[1] The Bill of Rights supports freedom of religion as a legally-protected right, reading that, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...". George Washington stressed freedom of religion as a fundamental American principle even before the First Amendment was ratified.

:patrice: what exactly is slippery about freedom of religion?

Well, for one, update the currency and put in Allah we trust. :yeshrug:

Secondly, we know that slave-owning cac wasn’t considering the Islamic faith. It was about the variations of Christianity and what makes this guy so special to change tradition if we are referencing 200+ year old documents?

Stop it, blood. Lastly, they are amendments meaning they can be amended.

Amendments are formal changes or additions to a governing document, most famously the U.S. Constitution, which has 27, starting with the Bill of Rights (First Ten Amendments) guaranteeing fundamental freedoms like speech, religion, and due process, with others addressing issues like slavery abolition (13th), women's suffrage (19th), and voting rights (15th, 26th). They are proposed by Congress or a national convention and ratified by three-fourths of the states, a process designed to balance change and stabilit

So first you say the rules are being rewritten, then once people show you they aren't you move the goalpost to " slave owning cacs variations of Christianity" as what that meant and then say we need to continue to uphold the tradition of said slave owning cacs.

fun fact - u dont need a Bible at all for a oath. Roosevelt didn't use a book at all. John Quincy Adams used a law book. The oath is the part that matters, not the prop.

If using a Quran means we gotta write 'in Allah we trust', then John Quincy Adams should’ve put ‘In Case Law We Trust'
