That was justall around. Especially since Maher in a previous show said that he doesn't believe that the CIA had anything to do with the crack era. And he has said plenty of times that he loves the CIA and doesn't like talking bad about them.
I get that the CIA being in American alleyways at 4AM to fight terrorism sounds far-fetched. But why the hell did he mention Popeye's chicken? What did Popeye's do to him?
If anyone gave Bill Maher a pass, unfortunately, it's time to put him in the "problematic" category. I know most people are canceling him outright. This is now the 4th time I've seen Maher say something slick about black people. In order,
- said something slick in front a black congresswoman
- said something slick about Detroit in front of Neil deGrasse Tyson; Tyson lowkey snapped though
- the House Negro comment
- Popeye's
Even if I gave him the benefit of trying to be edgy and failing, he should have learned by now to just stop. Anyway, I don't watch Maher like I used to. It's rarely now. But now he's given me another reason continue to watch less, if at all.
i mean the joke was projecting trump's racism, but yeah that was cringeworthyThat was the 2nd slick comment he made. In his monologue he said for black history month Trump pardoned a bucket of chicken.. wtf? Even the audience seemed taken aback and confused. Maher think he slick with his racism.
i was watching this, and that comment didnt really stand out as him doing anything more than choosing a random fast food place. if it was some kinda slick comment, i dont get it
but im not gonna argue with anyone who feels he meant something otherwise :jayhub:
ThisWhen talking to Black people don't bring up fried chicken, watermelon, chitterlings, collard greens, black eyed peas or corn bread unless it is being served and is visible.
