Kobe was never loved during his playing time, he used to be called a Jordan wannabe, and then when he was the posterboy for the anti iverson image basketball player aka people thought it was a fake image of him and then it become snitchbe after the rape situation and how he quit in game 7 against the suns even to how the last few years of his career ended with him just jacking and jacking with no regard for his fall off.

Kobe become loved because he did a great job with his post career of his curating his image and then his death happen, but during his playing time he was a very very polarizing figure that people pretend was this universally loved player when he never got nowhere near the love Lebron gets during his actual playing time.
