i never agreed with the principle that the bulls had no chance of winning against the heat so why should he come back. its one thing if you come back early, you're a shell of yourself, and theres dramatic risk of reinjury.

it doesnt take much sometimes to turn the tide of a series. if the bulls can neutralize bosh/wade this series can get real interesting. while rose wouldnt have lebron type help, that roster has definitely improved offensively over the team that lost to the heat 2 years ago. robinson/hinrich/bellinelli/butler is a much more versatile and dangerous group than watson/korver/brewer/bogans.

Yeah, I think those who have never had ACL reconstruction don't know what it is like.

I've had ACL reconstruciton surgery. It takes a while to get your range of motion back first. And then, it takes a while to get your muscle strength back. Your quadraceps atrophy post-surgery. Your body doesn't want to flex the quads while it is healing. I used to have big even-sized quads, Post surgery, I saw my left quad shrinking and I couldn't do anything about it. Then on top of that, your other leg becomes even stronger because it is making up for your other leg's weakness. My quads were way uneven when I got cleared to start light resistance exercises. It was months before I could go from walking to jogging. Running fast was a no-no. It took much longer before I could start squatting. And when I could, I was doing at 20% of max pre-surgery. Just to give you an idea, I could barbell squat 315 lbs at 10 reps and I weighed around 165 pre-surgery.
So when the doctor's say he's medically cleared, that means he can run, jump, turn, sprint, stop, etc., but they aren't saying he's back to 100% effort.

Second note, maybe Derrick Rose chooses not to take steroids or whatever illegal substances to aid in recovery, because that's how NFL players do it, like... Ray Lewis... hack... cough.
No offense but you probably a regular dude that don't have the access to the same around the clock treatment Rose & other athletes have. I've had friends that played sports tear their acl and it didn't take a whole year before they could play their sports again at a respectable level. Shumpert body can't be that much better than Rose that he been back for like 3/4 months now can it? I'm a Bulls fan but just don't like how this was handled if he was going to be out just say so when you know this was the case not this shyt going on right now.

I don't understand why people keep saying Rose can get hurt because he may be hesitant when he comes back. All reports say he's at no higher risk of injury then anyone on the floor. This isn't football or hockey, where if you're a bit slow you can get injured because the speed and physicality of the game. In basketball if your not as explosive or quick in your movements, you're just not as effective. There isn't a 300lb lineman throwing himself a your legs.

I feel this but i think most cats are just mad that it's been a year now and he still hasn't played when i assume the average recovery time in this day is 8 to 9 months. Now back in the day a year was expected off this injury but i wish someone would research and see when the last time a player in basketball took a whole year to come back from an ACL injury before Rose. I think this would help mute the argument, instead of comparing him to Rubio and Shumpert.

This is one of those let's-not-talk-about-it subjects, but; that may be the case

All this standards of recovery may be skewed because of what their doin' to recover

This DUDE:

Came back from ACL and MCL injuries, to play a contact sport, and won the MVP and almost broke a 30 year old rushing record.

D. Hoes is soft.

No :cape: for Rose, but we need to stop comparing nikkas like Adrian Peterson and LeBron to normal human beings. Them dudes is borderline meta-human :whew:

Adrian Peterson probably drank a gallon of deer antler velvet a day, with a side of HGH and anabolic steroids. That was a crazy recovery. Maybe a tuna fish sandwich a day for dinner.

I don't have problems with him not playing, just him or the team for not being real with everyone and telling us what was up. Sounds like this decision was made a while ago. It's only causing more trouble for rose and taking away attention from how well the team has been doing. This story won't go away when he continues to perpetuate this myth that he 'may' return against Miami.

That's my issue as well. I salute him for not playing if he feels he's not ready to play, but just come out and announce at the start of the season that you're probably going to miss the whole regular season and there is a slim chance you will be back in time for the playoffs. Would of solved a lot of problems

That's a legitimate gripe, however how was he to know he'd feel like this at the start of the season? If you were to propose this situation to him (end of last year) as it's ended up now (2nd round vs Heat), I'm pretty sure he'd say he liked to be hitting full stride in games by now.

Yep that's true. Is he REALLY going to suit up tomorrow or is it a smokescreen? Or is there even any way of knowing what the deal is?
