The NBA World Has Never Seen Anything Like Anthony Davis

With each game, the excitement around 21-year-old Anthony Davis continues to grow.
Davis has been the best player in the NBA over the first 12 games of the season.

He has posted a remarkable stat line: 26.3 points (2nd in the NBA), 57% shooting, 11.4 rebounds (5th), 2.2 steals (3rd), and 3.5 blocks per game (1st).

He's also ranked No. 1 with a player efficiency rating (PER) of 35.6. To put that into perspective, LeBron James had with a 29.3 PER last year.

Anthony Davis is a great at filling up a stat sheet. but folks are getting ahead of themselves. lets first see him develop a post game. and lets see him lead his team to the playoffs.

i've watched NO extensively this year and Davis is great but I don't see transcendant star yet. I see a better shotblocking worse passing Kevin Garnett. And as we all know KG never was able to lead a team to the title in the same fashion that Duncan was able to.

I've personally been more impressed with Boogie this year given that the Kings have been better than the Pelicans even though I would say that Davis has more talent around him than Boogie.

I'm a Bron stan and I can't even argue this.

I was just thinking about LeBron's decline the other day and asking myself, if Bron isn't the best in the league who is? ZFirst name that popped into my head was AD.

If I had to say who is the best player RIGHT NOW, I don't think there's any question it's Davis. :yeshrug:

Im sorry .. you just CANT be the best player in the league without having some playoff performances to back it up

you just CANT

No one has made the playoffs THIS season.

Is Larry Bird also better than Anthony Davis? He's 50 something years old. You're basing it on past accomplishments and not what's going on RIGHT NOW.

With the way both players are playing, it's hard to argue who the best player in the league today is. :yeshrug:

I feel you on this. Boogie can carry a scoring load in the playoffs, Im not sure if AD is ready for that yet

fair enough im not aware of his comments on Kobe, but based on his book and articles I think hes been a fairly strong Lebron supporter, and has called him the best player of the past 20 years (making the assertion he was better than comeback version jordan, duncan etc.) so I dont think its agenda driven.

Also my point is by saying that Cousins or Curry could be called the best player in the game next week is kinda undervaluing what AD is doing... he's firmly seperated himself from that second tier at this point and should be compared to KD and Lebron in my oppinion... but like I said it has been a small sample size so far this year.

See, him calling Lebron the best player in the past 20 years is a reach, at no point in his career was Lebron better than the Chicago Jordan. The point of bringing up Cousins or Curry has NOTHING to do with undervaluing AD, it has more to do with reactionary mumbo jumbo spewed by today's media, including Simmons. For example, Lebron weight is down so people are saying his so called regression in play is due to the weight (which is wrong) and this is the narrative that people are running with. What's a legit reason for saying AD is better than Bron? 10-11 games into the season and he's the best in the league now? No. Like I said, let Curry or Boogie have 2 weeks of dominant ball, watch how the tides shift. These media dudes of today are horribly reactionary, Simmons included.

Im just trying to say, its not reactionary to say that at this point in all of their careers.. AD, Lebron and KD.. should be considered on the top level and comparable to each other...

Thats not a narrative, its something that AD has proven... this isnt just 11 games.. the proof is in the pudding with his progression throughout the past year.

If curry and boogie both played at their maximum level of production, as good as is godly possible for both those superstar players... they would not be seeing AD's current level of production... so to tie all of them together i think is doing AD a disservice.

With all that being said were in agreeance, lebron still holds the title belt.

I know its blasphemy, but comparing second 3-peat jordan... to the last 3 years in Miami lebron has some merit... almost like comparing Magic to Jordan...

Ppl really need to chill with the Ant Davis anointing. He's right about Lebron being on decline tho. What's with the blatant KD disrespect tho:what:? I remember last year when he was clearly better than Lebron announcers and ppl were still saying Lebron was better with there only evidence being "if Lebron tried" :beli:. It's clear that healthy KD is the best player in the league

What are you trying to say in the bolded?

Why would anyone compare 33-35yr old, second three peat Jordan, to prime 27-29 year old LeBron? Wouldn't first three peat, 28-30yr old Jordan be a more appropriate comparison?

I'm not even sure what the magic/Jordan comparison analogy means.

Edit: I see that comparison is in response to LeBron being the best player in the past 20 years.....:mjlol: '95-'98 MJ is better than any and every version of LeBron. Flu MJ showed more heart than healthy, sober clean living LeBron. 33-35 year old MJ.....3-0 in the Finals. Meanwhile, bron disappears for an entire series after getting yelled at, has another series where he's free to shoot jumpers and succumbs to the pressure and can't hit them, leaves a game because of cramps, allows his team to get the greatest televised ass whipping of all time.

My goddamn self. Shout out to my real Africans
LeBron is still arguably the best player in the league but there are a lot of players having standout seasons like Curry, Davis, etc. We will see what KD does when he's done resting his injured in his bed of endorsement money.

Statistically his numbers look par for the course and he's had some solid games on Cavs wins. The season is early but the team doesn't look good, his leadership is questionable and in the games that they have lost, he has looked like shyt. It's baffling because it's such a drastic decline in his abilities. His unrefined skills are glaring because he seems to have lost significant athleticism. It's truly baffling.

this what he said earlier this season
“Anyone who thinks LeBron looks the same is fooling themselves,” Simmons said.
This is not a jump-to-conclusion thing. I have been watching this Cavs team since the preseason games started, and he does not look the same.”

let me get this straight....over the course of the summer...lebron left his prime? :mjcry:

say that shyt out loud: LEBRON LOST HIS ATHLETIC GIFTS OVER THE SUMMER....:skip:

Well, I think there is a point to be made that an NBA player's "Prime" has shifted slightly earlier.

Prime was kind of always defined by the balance between experience and physical peak. And now that players enter the league earlier, thereby getting more experience... if you enter the league at 19, then your peak is probably 25/26-29/30. Rather than 28-32ish. Just because, you're getting the same amount of experience, and you're a better raw athlete at 26 than you are at 31.

But yeah, I doubt LeBron simply lost it over the summer. :yeshrug:
