why is rihanna on this list or anywhere near it?:gucci:also, elton john on a goat list? janet jackson and mariah carey don't belong on there either. i guess they're goin only by album sales cause it for sure ain't album content.
Rihanna has had a ridiculous amount of hits. Still, I agree with you.

Mariah number 5?:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

No Prince? Hits on top of hits and he's quite possibly the greatest musician ever. Definitely the Mozart of the last 40 years.

What's the criteria of this list? Can't take a list seriously that doesn't have :mj:at number one. I'd also replace Rihanna with Drake.

Shows you why Billboard Hot 100/ pure sales is not always the best indicator of what song is truly popular or long lasting

Case in point: Thriller (the song, not the album) by Michael Jackson never went #1 on the hot 100.

But it's one of the most popular songs in history.

Case 2: many older people, including Mariah Carey fans, often say they don't even remember her early hits, or remember hearing them even when they came out. It's mostly her 95 stuff onwards that most people remember.

Mariah was VH1 certified (before they let non Jackson black people on there consistently) before 95. I remember the I Don't Wanna Cry Emotions etc eras fairly clearly because of this...she actually reverse crossed over if that makes sense
