what is this list based on? just sales or number of weeks charting?
How Michael Jackson ain’t 1 or 2
Michael and Stevie should be higher, Elvis, Madonna and Elton should be lower. And people never realized just how popular Rihanna was because they were Beyonce stans.
Elton John at no time in history was ever a bigger pop star than the Jackson’s or cracker ass Elvis if we are being real. shyt Prince was way bigger too. The Top 5 being damn near all white is a damn slap in the face.
Michael Jackson at 8? nikka what? I love Janet and she def deserves to be on this list but over Michael? Nah. Michael shouldn't be below 3. Honestly I would have him 1 but I can see Stevie being placed higher.
How the fukk is Mike not number one let alone top 5boy had more swag and style than all of the Beatles combined FOH

Pretty fukking much
Bullshyt. I grew up in the 80’s. No way in hell is MJ not number one.
I can’t really speak on Elvis or the Beatles. But I know for damn sure MJ was bigger than fukking Madonna.
I don't know what's going on with the downplaying of Michael lately when it comes to these music lists, but it needs to STOP. After that Rolling Stones top 500 songs of all time, I was fukking done.
I expected Madonna at #2 but Michael absolutely should be #1.
Janet above Michael is... hilarious.
Rihanna has had a ridiculous amount of hits. Still, I agree with you.
you can tell they just added Janet to pander. Janet is NOT top 10. that's why the black artist only make the second of the list.
MJ should be number first off. Definitely not below Madonna nor Elton John. Also, Whitney> Elton John. Beatles need to get off that one spot. they can come second.
Agreed. If anything, it just shows how flawed Billboard's metrics originally were.I think this is based on charting which makes sense for rhianna to be on it
makes sense. I was wondering how Janet could be higher than michael.guys it's not a subjective list
It's technically based on sales and longevity on the charts. Which, as i outlined before though, is not really great metric. But don't bash the list: bash Billboard's dumb metrics.
It never valued radio airplay enough, for instance. It also doesn't take into account record labels not shipping the songs enough which can depress hot 100 rankings. And genre sales.
The reality is that I rarely hear Janet Jackson at all in my day to day life. But I hear Michael a lot![]()
