As for Ye's album rollout, he's crazy but not stupid. We've been talking about this dude for the past 2-3 weeks non-stop. He has the most wanted shoes in the world right now. Did his own fashion show at MSG, played SNL, made headlines, etc, etc.

The level of publicity / notoriety he has gotten over the past two weeks is worth far more than $3.6 million. He couldn't pay for every media outlet including serious news outlets to be reporting on him every night as they have been doing. He will recoup in sales on his fashion brand, whatever he's making on Tidal and in the concerts etc.

The majority of the public haven't even heard about it yet...I legit know plenty of n1ggas that don't even know about Spotify...

The majority of the country isn't as tech savvy as college students and people that browse message boards frequently... If the radio isn't still spoon feeding them stuff, they have know desire to go search it out...

Media aint reporting it but Tidal was the number 1 app in the app store this past weekend due to kanye. Higher than Spotify and everything else.

Those folks that bootlegged the album were not buying it anyway so it's not lost revenue. If anything its am indicator of how popular kanye still is.. even though i think the album was mediocre if he does a tour there is no doubt he will be selling out stadiums across the country.

I wouldn't be surprised if they resigned him. A few years ago they made No I.D., Executive Vice President and Head of Creative so I feel like that and making GOOD Music an official Def Jam imprint were part of a deal with Ye or to keep him.

Most Tidal artists are superstars so they have a lot of clout with their labels. Sony is not going to fukk with someone like Beyonce especially when she only has one album left on her deal (if I remember right).

Rihanna is on her last def jam album and owns her masters.

Madonna is Madonna.

The White Stripes, Arcade Fire and Daft Punk do their own thing.

Tidal is company and they own stakes, but it's not a record label. The major labels all own parts of spotify, etc.
