He happened to work with a woman who had an uncle who co-owned a sports agency.
Sounds more like absurd whimsy and luck than anything else.

I have a friend who is at the bottom of her class, but just happened to meet a drunk international law firm partner, and he hooked her up with an interview for a position that it'd even be difficult for a top student at a top school to get.

The caveat? To have been there you had to have rich parents to pay for you to attend the summer program :unimpressed:

Well to get the job he still had to know about the stuff, he didn't just got the hook up he had to pass the interview first

One bad mentality that broke people don't get is "luck" happens to everybody you just gotta be ready to see it and to capitalize off of it when the opurtunity comes

In your scenario just cause she's getting the interview don't mean she will get the job

But the opportunity was there largely due to factors not under his control.
This is how class works.
And "luck" does not happen to everybody.
That's also how class works.
And I don't want to explain the mechanics of legal hiring, but there are strong indications of preference that (feigned) meritocracy cannot overcome.

I mean that's your closed perspective I have a lot personal examples that say otherwise

Not saying it's your case but some people use that class shyt as an excuse. Every person I know who puts in CONSISTENT serious work ends up successful no matter where they come from

It's true that in a lot areas shyt like class matter but it's also true that skills do matter a lot people on top who reAlly love what they do care more about the skills and character of the person than the class

Class is just a code word really if you study what people of a certain class learn since they are children, you too can be a part of that class without really growing up on it

Basically the only thing that matters is, are you willing to put on consistent work?

I know a guy without college education who became an expert in his area by reading the same book everyday for at least 1 hour (of course he didn't read the entire book everyday, he would start reading where he left in the day before and stop after one hour)

He said after 6 months he could easily talk about every subject on that book.

One day at his minimum wage job one of his co workers(female) heard him talk and hooked him up with her uncle who was an co owner of a sports agency

Dude got the interview and the job

@Marzupial

1. What books was it that he read?

2. What career does he and you have?

Great panel discussion. Peep game, especially from the Indian breh. His breakdown of IoT is very interesting. Robert F. Smith links tech, finance and business with such clarity and swagger. Very, very engaging
