Why I'm not in the corporate game anymore. They tried this at an old job. Flew in some execs to can my department short notice after witholding work from us and claiming we were not performing.

I pulled receipts out in the meeting and went to bat with the top brass while my department sat there mute. Saved our jobs. Not one person thanked me. They were about to all get put on performance reviews under contract pending termination. I'm confrontational by nature. I learned that I didn't belong in that environment.

What do you do now?

Same people made at him look down at retail workers for wanting higher wagers when they are more valuable to the companies the work for than these poeple jobs who basically did nothing and wasn't needed

most of those big corporations are like this, have a bunch of employees they don't need, corporate welfare is real

Just going based on the video and what he is saying at face value but I don't see what he did wrong. Corporations are always looking to trim the fat. If you ran a company, shouldn't you want to know what an ENTIRE building worth of people are doing to help the company? How many millions of dollars of salaries are perceived to be wasted and those workers can't seem to justify their jobs properly to explain it to the new boss so he can understand. Mind you he said in the video that the company wasn't doing well. He is looking to run more efficiently.

My company literally got rid of a ton of staff functions and besides some small hiccups at the beginning, it's running fine without them. The extra work load got spread out.

Looking at it on a smaller scale, If this was a struggling small mom and pop operation and they realized they don't really need 7 cashiers. Would we look down on them for cutting the cashier employees down so they can benefit from the extra cash flow to keep the business running? If the store gets busy, couldn't they just have the stock guy in the back come out and run the register for a bit...do they really need the extra manpower on deck? Mind you in the video case this is most likely salary positions and not hourly where they get paid their full check every time. Business wise I would do the same. And since he said he still owns the company it means it's still running.

This dude not being totally forthcoming and likely already looked into downsizing and selling the lease before he brought the company. All the numbers and shyt being ran beforehand when you acquire a company and you already got strategies in mind.

That said, that shyt is par for the course. When a company get acquired and a merger happens, which really be technically acquisitions cause most of them don’t be 50/50. But when they happen, it’s always gonna be a lot of scrambling and positioning by people…especially those who know damn well they don’t provide no real value. And it’s always gonna be a good number of those people. Whoever made the acquisition always gonna fire a lot of those folks. The execs and managers who good at networking and the politics game, but wasn’t really providing any value find ways to position they self to be kept on board.

I guess to his point, there's a lot of useless fukkin people working at companies getting paid for literally sitting there, answering a few emails, and attend some meetings.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
This is the kind of soulless capitalism that put America in the situation it is in, and we will not recover from. There was a time in America, strictly on the business side, not social, but business wise, where the “billionaires” (inflation suggested) actually had “embarrassment of riches”, realized that they had more money than they could spend, and got together to pump their money into social services/humanitarian philanthropy. Nowadays they are all soulless fukkfaces who look at it as a competition with other billionaires, and celebrate the fact that they value money over humanity. It’s a fukking disgrace

If probably didn't explore cutting upper management/CEO compensation and bonuses either.

This was a rail car business anyway. Which isn't a money maker anymore.
