realized his mistake and release this statement after few hours
“I used a poor choice of words in my comment… As a former player who has the utmost respect and love for the game, the point that I was trying to make is that football is a physical game and injuries are a part of it. Playing football no doubt is very physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging, and that is all part of what makes the game so compelling to play and watch. The game has more protection for players now than ever, thanks largely to the safety advancements and numerous rule changes made by our league and promoted to all levels of football.”

His mistake is the apology.

His original statement was like a politician offering a rare moment of honesty.

Football is dangerous. We love it. It's entertaining.

But knowing what I know now and with the mounting evidence of the long term effects, I wouldn't play it. And I wouldn't want my kids or relatives to play it.

It was bad enough when you figured the risk was having knee pain in your 60s. But brain damage is an entirely different level.

It would be like a Hyundai sales agent telling you to buy a Hyundai model while knowing that the brakes might fail.

They might not. But the risk is enormous.

Ain't that fukking obvious. Humans aren't built to do a lot of shyt but we do it anyway. Hell we ain't meant to swim but nobody makes a big fuss about that.
Your swimming analogy works better if you say we were free diving and depriving our brain of oxygen for minutes on end. Regular swimming is safe.

Enjoy the last couple years of this still being a legit sport. 10-15 years MAX before this shyt dies out.

It was sad watching Herm Edwards try to rationalize that shyt.
