Those people aren't black. They are MIXED. So yes it’s racist. You are following the white supremacist ideology. What about that you don't understand? The one drop rule was created to keep the white race pure. Black African blood is viewed as a contaminant. One drop of black blood will make it impure and turn the whole thing black. That's the basis behind the one drop rule. It’s racist.

malcom aint black? :what:

i'm not even talking about the one drop rule. you're basically telling me that half the people that we look up to and celebrate for black history month don't qualify as black. who would qualify as black in your eyes then? and what is your problem with these people identifying as black? i understand that you're mixed and you personally clearly don't identify as black but what is your problem with other mixed people identifying as black?

Aight so I am half black (pops) half asian (moms). However most people tell me I look Mexican or 'Rican (I guess cuz when you mix shyt up they turn out different). So if y'all judging race by phenotype then I guess I'm neither of my halves lol.

But a few hundred years ago someone like me would be classified as black anyway. :yeshrug:

It's not that serious. In my opinion as long as a person is comfortable with their racial identity and background, it should be up to them to define I guess. Tho I do frown upon those who shun away one half of their heritage (and sadly it is usually the black side) as they are really just denying it to themselves.

The fact is black Americans are a mixed group of people.

yes many of us have a non black person in our family lineage due to rape or race mixing, but not every single one of us. Many jet black African Americans have not been mixed at all. With that being said, its still possible to be closer to the original black race on the strength of one genes, even if you have family members in your lineage who are clearly nonblack/mixed/possess the recessive gene.

They are of African descent, but they aren't the same as a black person from Africa.

My problem with it stems from the racist one drop rule. You only call these people black because of that racist rule that white supremacist came up with hundreds of years ago.
