^^^ Any poster claiming The South killed Hop Hop that is from NY, ya'll holding the smoking gun, yellow tape and white chalk all over the place. That song was #1 in the country. "I can make mill saying nothing on the beat" spit on Melle Mel, Rakim, Nas, Jay, and every MC that prided themselves on lyricism. The biggest middle finger to NY came from its own.

And this was so disrespectful Jay gave us American Gangster because that one song dismissed lyricism as a whole.

As wack as "Laffy Taffy" was, it wasn't takong direct shots at lyricism. They made a goofy song that blew up. If you didn't like crunk, which is kind of ironic considering Jada, Nas, and Styles P have bars over crunk records, there was Snap, if you didn't like Snap, there was trap, if you didn't like Trap there was Texas and that whole movement, you didn't like Texas, there was Memphis.

The south has been running hip hop for about 20 years now. They're not going anywhere either

What else do they want

Oh so it was about the artistry when Puff’s non rapping ass was jacking beats wholesale. Jay, Nas, shyt even a nikka like Mic Geronimo ended up switching up.

Or what about after The Chronic rappers in LA just imitating Dre and Snoop with second rate G Funk. And shytty and violent content while getting lazy on the mic.

The South is nothing but a scapegoat

Is this nikka's rebuttal to shyt on The Chronic, Nas, Jay Z?

man southern nikkas are slow

I don’t want to say the south ruined hip hop, because that’s not true. But it did get worse when it became the central hub of the culture, and it’s hard to argue against that. Artistry wise and business wise it got worse, and that’s strange because the south is known for having the best independent hustle in hip hop.

The South didn't depend on just samples..

Plus, the Unity down South always showed in the records.

That place was a goldmine especially during the mid to late 90s.

Why u think Erick Sermon and Too Short moved down there???

Even Pimp C said the ones complaining about Hip Hop is Dead ain't selling records.

The South destroyed hip hop... no longer was about the artistry when they took it over :manny:

The South been taking over since 2006...

Once Laffy Taffy came out, it was a wrap.

It's not the South's fault that NY wanted to copy em instead of being original.

NY lost their spot due to arrogance and karma and lack of sampling

Post doesn't even make sense. Did Juvenile not drop a multi-platinum in 1998? Prior to 1998, nobody you named had a multi-platinum album. Ja didn't have a multi-platinum album until 2000 with Rule 3:36.

Post makes perfect sense. Are you saying that hip hop in general needed the Juvenile album to survive? Jay-Z dropped volume 2 before 400 degrees. Hip hop didn’t need the south to “save” it.

Cash money didn’t get major notoriety until 99.

Made,Jay,Ja Rule, and DMX were dropping multi platinum albums. What exactly did they keep from dying?

Cash Money took over No Limit's spot when they reissued their stuff...

They caught lightning in a bottle with those catchy songs such as Ha, Bling Bling, etc.
