Only nikka that got a case against Snoop from the New West is Crooked I. Thats cuz he was dissin Snoop on behalf of Suge. Alot of them nikkas was average not to mention the rap game im general wasnt really tryin to fukk wit the Westcoast around this time. Some of these dudes need to admit their role in this... that they probably didnt show the proper respect to some of the legends before them. But Snoop always seem to embrace those who embrace him. I liked Bishop, he had some joints. Dont think I ever heard anything that made me say "this guy is a superstar" tho.

Seen Snoop embrace badd lucc, problem, nipsey, terrace martin, mistah fab, 1500 or nothin. I'm sure there's others.

Terrace Martin been around since Kirk Franklin dropped stomp breh.

anecdotal evidence doesn't mean Snoop was out here like E-40....The term "New West" only exists cause Snoop,Dre and Cube felt some type of way that young guys were trying to ride their coattails to success. YG actually took pride in making it without Dre

this idiot also leaked his own Dre track :mjlol:

He was generic that was his issue

That "Grow Up" song wasn't gonna have records flying off the shelves.. it was just a cool lil' record.

Bishop was no more "Generic" than Slim Tha Mobster and all the others Dre signed. At least he could rap.

You have history confused....Snoop didn't embrace them until AFTER they had already outed them for not supporting new LA rappers. Unlike E-40, Snoop wasn't worried about reaching out to the younger rappers to keep himself relevant.

Cube,Dre and Snoop specifically got called out for actively not giving new rappers co-signs....Crooked,Glasses,Nipsey,YG all made it known that that the old guard passed on giving them a co-sign.

Bishop also tried to get on at a time in LA when they didn't even play LA rappers on the radio.
Snoop and Nip talked early behind the scenes and had a lot of convo’s about the business. Nip said he didn’t want to be in Snoops shadow so they kept their relationship out of the public.

Snoop never really dissed the “new west”.

Cube had a problem with those cats because he felt like they was saying the older dudes were outdated but he was still putting out music actively at that time.

I thought slim da mobster was dope

Bishop had a few of joints that I heard that I fukked with like no stoppin Carson, grow up, caltroit and this track produced by Scott storch I forgot what it’s called. He probably just didn’t have a good enough album or he got dropped before the shyt was gona Comeout.

I was so excited for that New West super group "No Country for Old Men" with Bishop, Glasses Malone and Crooked I. Shame it never happened.

Meanwhile, the coast going hard at each other
The younger rappers had wanted some of the OGs' comfort
But I ain't need it
I never screamed out "The New West"—I didn't believe it
They brung each other down; I was planning out my achievements,

:wow: KDot

If we're being fair...at that time, Kendrick was rapping about how he wasn't riding skateboards...sounding like he needed Vicks vapor rub, and self-admittedly wasn't being real with himself rapping.

He wasn't really one of the dudes talked about as far as the new west went back then.... he was able to successfully re-write his backstory to where he was in the thick of it with Glasses,Jay Rock,Nipsey,YG and even Tyga.

Wild thing is that YG and Problem had a huge song before GKMC even came out.

Nipseys first big co-sign came from Game in like 08.

Snoop is in the Hussle in the House video, but he aint even take his seat belt off in the car:heh:

While there is no unwritten rule that you SHOULD put people on after you make it.... The old west rappers were definitely not invested in doing anything to bridge the gap unless it was something very very self serving.

but Bishop might be one of the worst people to tell this truth considering how he had the golden spot...and did nothing with it.

This man could've changed the entire trajectory of the rap game but he was too conscious and not ignorant enough to the get the push.

That and he came in at a time when skills where sliding down the pan and ringtone gimmicks were rising as he was a mid 90s MC stuck in the 00s.

He's not wrong

Isn't that part of the reason why Crooked I and snoop had they Lil situation, i mean besides the obvious death row shyt.
