Its pretty much like gambling but safer and better odds. Hell all investments are. Your 401k is highly likely to accrue value, but there is a chance that we have a depression or recession which will take a few years to recover from around the time you plan on retiring and you lost value in your investment. There were tons of stories of people who planned on retiring around the 2008 crash and saw their 401ks and investments fall to pieces. So has gold n silver at certain points

You have to go in expecting the possibility of losing money depending on your goal. Its not any different.

Invested 200 bucks in a shytcoun called GRX, and chashed 1500 once it hit an exchange...bought back in and currently holding till it hits 20.00 a coin (if the coin developers don't dip with everyones dough first lol)

I get upset at myself everytime I think of Bitcoin. Should've bought some back in 2008-2009 when it was worth pennies...
I try to ignore Bitcoin now cause it's depressing. I remember the day it reached $100/coin and I convinced myself that was the peak of it. $8000/coin later.....

They could’ve just worked 1-2 more years and retired peacefully. People look at the market like it’s a ocean filled with icebergs that we have to avoid when it’s more like seasons. We have to have fall and winter but if you hold on, it will be summer again. We have had recessions every 8-10 years since the 50s IIRC and every single time the market rebounded 1-2 years later.
