Biz Markie's 1st album (Goin Off) is probably the most underrated classic of all time

When discussing the golden era (or greatest albums period) it's a travesty how Biz debut is not mention. That album had atleast 5 songs that ruled 88. Plus his vocals on those tracks were sampled heavy in 90's from the likes of Pete Rock and Preemo . Yes, Biz was no Rakim or even a MC Shan. But Goin Off is an unappreciated classic that often gets left out in the discussion.

Yeah, that was the truth. If you ever can find any early Biz live performance you can see how crazy people went for those records.

It's a shame Marley wasn't at least engineering/mixing his album after that. You could really hear the difference.

You forgot Albee Square Mall and Make the Music w/ Your Mouth Biz...no bullshyt, 8 of the 10 songs on that album are legendary and the other two were above average. Classic material.

Saw Biz live in concert in '89...he followed Ice-T's performance. Ice ripped it the fukk up and had all the bangers in the crowd ready to tear the whole arena up. Biz came out and ripped it even more. Had everybody :russ: and :dj2: at the same damn time.

i refuse to conform
lol at this being a classic smh to each his own though lyrically he was ass i don't think he wrote his own rhymes though so that makes it even less of a classic.

i never said " anybody " was claming he was a great lyricist.

im just saying then how is it a classic cause it damm sure ain't because of the lyrics.

Then shut the fukk and go listen to Ras Kass and Canibus albums and get the fukk up out of this thread. Nobody gives a fukk what you think about Biz.

Nobody is claiming Biz was a lyricist. But to deny he never had club bangers is absurd (which his first album was filled up with). You don't have to be Rakim like MC to have classic records, which Biz has.
