Well's Fargo Bank said on Monday a rapper detained outside a bank in Buckhead did not hold an account at the bank, and never even entered it before he was detained by police.

Atlanta Police said Sam Benson, also known as "Blac Youngsta", was handcuffed briefly, until law enforcement sorted out a case of mistaken identity.

A spokesperson with APD said the rapper, a Memphis native, was not racially profiled. The mix-up was based on a "limited and conflicting" description from witnesses of a suspect who wrote a bad check at a Wells Fargo branch, according to police.

"Mr. Benson is not an account holder with us. He did not enter our store nor did he make any withdrawals," Wells Fargo said in a statement.

A source close to law enforcement says Benson, was actually holding money that was withdrawn from his manager's account in a video, and it was closer to $70,000, versus some outlets' earlier reports of $200,000.

So I've read these stories, but what actually happened here? If this dude Blac Youngsta doesn't have an account, why was he in the parking lot, cameras rolling, with 70k? And it looks like an ACTUAL crime was committed, since they arrested the other (unrelated) guy, for trying to cash a bad check.... So, someone called in an anonymous tip on that guy, and the rapper just happened to be hanging out in the bank parking lot with a big pile of cash? If the whole thing is a PR move, why have the other guy actually trying to cash a bad check?
