Yup this is exactly what David did. He used his Nupe connections (Earl Thomas is also a Kappa) to get in with a lot of athletes at UT. Once he got Jamal Charles and Earl Thomas, he just built off that. B-School and Law School.

How does one even get into becoming a sports agent? Is it more connections than education?

Not sure, but I know David is a lawyer

WRONG.
You can major in ANY subject. For the NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS all you need is an undergrads, and you have to sit in and pass the agents test, and pay yearly fees.

For the NFL, it’s the same but you will need a graduate degree along with your undergraduates.

It doesn’t matter what school you go to and you don’t need to be a lawyer, although some are it isn’t a requirement.

Most agents do poorly and don’t even have clients, because most players sign with big name agents. You just have to build a relationship with a player early in his college career and hope he makes the pros.

Agents also have other jobs as well because like I said only a small number of agents are really successful where all they can do is be an agent.

I’ve veen researching this for years because it’s something I want to do as a side gig while my main career is being a teacher.
