I made a thread almost a decade ago about living in china as a black man, it was great sharing my experience with yall. and after 6 years, I have since left. Now I live in the Philippines.

I get questions pretty much every time I log in. I figure instead of derailing threads, yall could post your questions here. Feel free to ask away.

Ever been to the Visayas?
How are you treated there?
Why are you there?

I would like to live in the PI for a few years with my family - How safe do you feel?

Could afford to live on a gated property there - do kidnappings and shyt like that happen?
Pretty safe here in Luzon.

I would stay away from Mindanao island. That's where the jihadists are...they dont like americans much.

1. All women are crazy

2. Well. Filipinos are known as some of the kindest people on the planet however there is a dark side. It would be hard to explain but log into netflix and check out a movie called Manila. or I think its Metro Manila. I'm sure the search will find the movie for you. there is a dark underlining/shady side to the place.

3. Broke up with my ex in China and decided I wanted to live on a tropical island where english is spoken. I was however close to living in colombia but I was convinced by some filipinos to give it a shot (id been here in 2006 for 4 months to train an outsource call center)

Always good following your threads. I believe there are many that would love to do what you are doing and just get up and leave America but are just lacking the courage . What was the breaking point for you to just do it and have you ever considered living in Japan? How is the food in the Philippines? Most Filipinos I've met in my life have been salt of the Earth people.

What's your opinion of Duterte so far

He's insane. Basically an asian Trump.
Can you buy a nice house on the water whats the prices looking like???:patrice:
You can't buy land without a filipino spouse or business partner (dangerous cause they can rip you off). I would recommend a bungalow that's what I want to buy. Those go for about 1.5 million pesos in a place like Angeles City or Subic where theres a lot of foreigners, and new homes. The prices arent the problem, its trusting someone to cosign, because they have to be a local. The chinese have figured out a way around this, but that would be a long post in itself.

How's the food?
pretty good. just at some nuggets from Wendys. Random fact............outside of north america... the philippines has the highest population of americans. bet yall didnt know that.
What do you do for a living that has you traveling?[/QUOTE}

well I work from my laptop, so I can work anywhere in the world. I am an advert graphic designer. In fact yesterday I worked on an advert for a pretty well known watch company that should feature in a magazine for an airline. Our team work via Skype.
