Worked with a lot of Filipinos and they've all been humble, hard working people everytime. A lot of love for them, but the poverty and the relatively poor safety had given me pause when considering visiting.

Your tales are giving me hope though. I got Singapore, Malaysia next on my Asia list but may have to reconsider stopping by the Philippines.

Also, I've seen Metro Manila, great movie but very rough watch. That family could not catch a break

metro manila is safe for a foreigner. but honestly watching that movie seriously made me look at the city a lil different
