The GODFATHER been feeding us with funk forever:wow:
FACTS!
I don't care what anybody says. James Brown is the most important person in modern musical history.
You don't have hip-hop, disco, breaks, block jams, park jams, jungle, or none of that without his music.

My neighbors had a "concert" for a garage sale that woke me up one morning.

Some lady singing Jody Watley's Looking for a New Love with a live drummer.

:snoop:

Plugging 2 for 1 DVD's in between playing the hits. :sadcam:

What’s this?
The Block Association is the name of the neighborhood group that deals with block parties & other issues in the area.

I'm talking about neighborhood trips. Rent some charter buses and go out. We used to hit up state parks, beaches, etc

I know some of the dealers in my area back in the 80s used to drop off envelopes filled with hundreds & pay for it

Like I said in the Hip Hop Origins thread, this Man is the Foundation of Hip Hop Music. Also this isn't news to Black Americans. We've seen videos like this growing up in the 80s but I'm glad more people will see this. Hip Hop is an Evolution of Black American Music.

Are there even black Americans out in NYC like that anymore?

First thing that comes to mind when I think of NY are Latinos and Caribbeans still having these kind of parties. Heard there's still a sizable presence in out of the way places like Rockaway or something
Massive drainage to the south
But Harlem is still predominantly fba
The north Bronx is the only real non fba section but that’s rapidly changing
Still a lot of neighborhoods in no and queens
