Black capitalist build their wealth off black people then turn around and shyt on the very people that got them to where they are
That ain’t struggle that’s treason
Oprah wasn’t about uplifting until she was trying to get white money and occupy white spaces
Tyler Perry still uses black suffrage in every fukking thing he does
Lee Daniel’s as well
RiRi is a co owner, yeah she might have “influence” on her brand but that shyt is only going to go because of what investors say is good for them as well as LVMH
The thing is nikkas always want to talk about community
All people who make it, regardless of race has a duty to their community
If you making billions and not trying to build more or positive change for the community from which you came from
Then what is the money good for
You have your legacy built, now it’s time to leave legacy imprints
If capitalism was so good then why is everybody out here struggling to some extent
Committing that because they’ve done everything they were supposed to but still getting shytty results
If we follow this logic then nobody should be mad at what the republicans are doing to the government right now
We should all just be happy with hoarding wealth and watching the world burn
Everybody has a responsibility on this planet to push for the betterment of society
But here we are arguing about not having that responsibility and just being happy with I got mines while still pushing shytty narratives and stereotypes of my people

Agree

I think rappers who rap about the hood and be doing interviews and always yelling “ im on the block everyday, im feeding the hood, etc etc “ really have a responsibility to give back

You talk all this hood shyt on vlad and on record, but you waking up in the burbs everyday and you got your kids in private school, but you talking about in interviews that these black kids in the hood need to keep it street. FOH

nikkas profit off the hood for their own pockets

Same goes for the steve stoutes and other black executives in these industries

Questlove is talking about a specific type of black capitalist. The ones who market themselves as being down for the cause so they need to balance the optics of being "pro black" while operating in a class structure that is intrinsically anti black
I'm sure the majority black capitalists ain't losing any sleep over how black people perceive them because if you are really successful then you firmly move into white spaces with no kind of promises or obligations to black people beyond selling them your products (ie: founder of Bevel and countless other black entrepreneurs)

Most black capitalists want a seat at the table
Rappers included
Most ain’t trying to really uplift jack shyt
And the ones that do move like lasagna
I could name one in particular but I would be accused of meat riding :russ:
I say all that to say
I don’t need to read a book to understand what’s really going on out here
Most people don’t and Toure is a known agent with a weird case
So his opinion holds no weight at all
Just tired of muthafukkas saying let us make money in peace
fukk community
Then circle right back around to the community for support when their next *insert media* is coming out or when they get in trouble
Then when the community calls them out for felonious tomfoolery
Now you a hater:russ:
Nah nikka you owe the people and due diligence of giving back
It’s people with less than really out in these streets building, giving and teaching
But I’m just suppose to be cool with you flaunting billions in my face and playing me for support
