I have this weird feeling the movie will be dope but the audience won’t be there for it. I hope I’m wrong about the latter

Also, I’m glad this is coming out when it’s coming out. Horror needs to remain subversive. I heard some people had an issue with an early scene in doctor sleep involving a little girl and while I get the “outrage” horror needs to be that way. There needs to be something in horror that’s transgressive and pushes against “good decency”

Do you have plans for us? Setting us up on a lick. You’re not locking us in a abandoned warehouse where we have to scramble through a series of increasingly elaborate games as human bait, under the guise of going to see a movie all together.

I know it's not the case so much any more (actually it might have always been exaggerated) but a PG13 always makes me nervous. That said, "reimagining" is 100% how I think the horror classics should be treated rather than remade. When I saw how they flipped the plot on this one, I immediately became a lot more interested in checking it out.
I know. I don’t mind PG-13 rating bc Ring was PG13 and that was a hit. But if that’s the primary audience ,ages 14-18, it does a disservice bc they have no prior connection to the movie. I’m already seeing a lot of negative feedback, both male and female - og fans from the first black Christmas movies. I predict it won’t make wide release opening week numbers but it should do well on -demand.
I only do that to criminals who got away with crimes. You underestimate how lazy I am. I'll probably get a free stream. I hate going to the movies alone and my girl doesn't like horror films.No not for this one.

horror has to constantly do things that make it “horror” and not safe. Releasing a horror movie on Christmas is subversive. A horror movie set on Christmas is subversive on principle. Think of a flick like the hills have eyes where the villains shoot women and children, which is still taboo in our society.
Once you see doctor sleep we can talk about the specific scene I’m thinking of but anyone who has seen it, knows the scene and it’s the first scene in the movie. We need to keep having stuff like that in horror
Yeah it’s just this weird vibe. Like people will sleep on it, it’ll do well once it comes to home video and then all these people will spill digital ink about how we all suck for not seeing it
