Black Comic Book Characters and Electricity

I never noticed this before but I thought this was interesting.

At some point they kept making the same black character with electricity powers because they didn't want to pay the dude who made him originally (he was white).

Lazy, unimaginative writing.

Either the lightning powers or BITD it would be enhanced physical abilities but not top level in terms of super strength. Luke Cage pre power boost is the most egregious example for me. Luke was one of Marvel's most notable black heroes known for super strength and high durability. But in the old Marvel Handbooks Luke Cage could only lift 3 tons. For comparison Spider Woman could lift 7 tons, Spiderman could lift 10 tons.

I like a character like Cloak. You could do a lot of creative stuff with his abilities. Not just super strength, energy blast etc.

Most Black Supes are written horrible. Thats why T'Challa was big frickin deal in the 1960s.
