We dont own our own culture

The clothes we wear, all that hip hop fashion. Created by white people ( snapbacks, new eras, throwbacks trainers, desginer etc etc)

The music we listen to. Created by white people (you already know, from nwa to drake. white men in suits been running hip hop and these rappers)

The movies we watch. Created by white people (you already know)

In all 3 sectors we control no distribution, which ultimately provides the funding for these formats. So when people say our culture is bringing us down... Is it really our culture?

Lets just not forget that us Black Peoples of the Americas are a made up "created" people. and the same way they created us, they created our culture.

we may not own our culture but we created it/them.

take fubu for example. it is (or was) black owned but the other jewish owned companies like (nike, timberland) crushed him. like kanye west said the jews have way more connects in the business world.and they use that to their advantage to takeover black owned businesses or keep them out.

2. the music we listen to. black music is black culture. we created all this shyt.. even rock but using money and the law they came in and took it from us. now the "corporations" own the music. most black ppl in the music industry are broke so they just sell their publishing for nothing.

3. movies: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gregory-allen-howard/whitewashing-of-james-brown_b_5638130.html

4. distribution. when master p, suge, j prince etc.. started talking distribution they really came down on them.

5. everyone really is a product of social engineering.

6. media: they were happy to take over the source magazine and BET. the source magainze especially being the "hiphop bible". we just stood there looking at them whipping benzino using eminem and 50 cent.
BET is now mostly a joke. i'm sure if it were black owned they would talk more about black culture. i shouldn't speak on it cause i haven't watched it over 7 years but i'm sure i'm not missing anything important.

You got it backwards...history shows white people taking from blacks not giving (things like culture)...white people felt the purpose of black people was to serve them and you don't need culture to do that so they didn't give black people one...a lot of them say black people still don't have one,,so if black people do have a culture they created it themselves...a lot the shyt just comes out of the unique experience of being black in america...making something from less than nothing...

UMmm, I mean I somewhat agree Bruh. I can't co-sign the whole statement though.

I've come to the realization that us stolen Africans don't really produce any of the products we obsess over. Everything from clothes, footwear, technology to even owning large land & profiting from agriculture isn't a go. Very little of our everyday human necessities(food, clothing & shelter) do our people actually take part in contribution so in result we NEVER profit. This leads to why most of us are so damn dependent on others to do sh#t for us. :snoop:

... We will wait outside for hours (sometimes weeks) in a long as$ line smellin like day old as$ & leftover french fry grease for Nike/Jordans with terrible quality before we gather together & make our OWN shoe companies. :mindblown:
The sad thing is WE have made trends & dictated fashion as well as a lot of other things deemed as "Cool" for so long that by now we should have "racks on racks on RACKS" BRUH! but we're so blind to our own influence. Once we take that then manipulate it to our benefit we'll be :blessed: Good To Go.

we did create some of that culture... and some of the products.. we did take some of those products and reverse engineer the culture around those... like snapbacks, etc.

I agree that cac own the industries and we aren't profiting.
I agree that there is manipulation in hip hop...

BUT they don't really create the roots of certain things.. for example... there are things I've seen w my own eyes in the 90's and early 2000s in detroit, shyt we did at strip clubs bars etc... that was not in hip hop and rap.. shyt we said, phrases, even things the females said/did..... .. and this is the same for all parts of the nation. Now that shyt is all mainstream and promoted and owned by whites---- But I wouldn't say completely created by white.. EVEN the ignorant shyt.

I'm not sure that you live in America
:patrice::leostare:so your prospective my be a lil different than our tribe here.......but I do agree that we do need to discuss the culture.

There are those in this thread that essentially believe that we need to adopt and infuse Completely with CAC culture. .. I disagree.. some of this is our culture I just think we should be more militant and nationalistic about it.

and of course we need to focus on creating businesses and our own schools.... (which will help fix the culture)

Fubu was distributed by samsung, he who funds you controls you sadly. Bottom line really

I do agree I was out of turn saying "created". But you get my gist

I agree with the bolded. As you say, what we see in the mainstream is promoted and owned by whites who have illicit control. Hence dictating our culture

'Giving culture' can also be 'taking culture' and especially in our case.

History shows white people erased our Religion, Language, Culture, Heritage and gave us a new Religion, Language, Culture, Heritage

this post is an ode to white supremacy, if you believe white people control you then you are taking part in white supremacy

but im glad people are talking about culture tho, so yeah lets talk about culture :blessed:

I didnt say they control us, I said they control out culture. Which is why our culture has been turned into something negative

yeah they definitely have an oversize impact, but black people have gone along with it for the most part
Unfortunately yep.

According to James Peoples & Garrick Baley in their work "Humanity", culture is defined like this: "The culture of a group consits of shared, socially learned knowledge and patterns of behaviour."

Therefore i think (if using that definition) we can deduce that to control a peoples culture is to essentially control the very being of a people.

Some black people have indeed just gone right along with it - which i understand. Its hard not too when everywhere you turn the "conditioning" is there: Like in the Class room, On television, Throughout the movies, Music etc. After sooo much systematic propaganda that shyt gets embeded within the mind without even being consciously aware of it, and it influences ones decisions, languange, attiudes, interest and therefore................... :lupe:
.............and therefore destiny :merchant:

Its not the 'end all be all' though
:whoo: Time to consider what can be done about it...

What's funny about black culture is that EVERYONE wants it. Blacks who didn't grow up 'in the hood' feel like they're missing something. Whites swagga jack us 24/7. Hispanics saying the N word:wtb:
It'll make you & I think we being like them when in truth this all us pimp.
