this is definitely true. I've seen way too many black people that clearly weren't from any type of inner city or hood run around pretending to be from that lifestyle. But only on like a hipster "i discovered it" level. Like how all these people tried to make du-rags a fashion item. It's the same people that we joke about discovering their blackness in college. They want all the cool and edgyness of regular black culture, then try to tell the actual creators of said culture to "clean it up".

Then read HBO is working on multiple new shows with Issa Raye, insecure is a good show to me, but it’s clear a “certain type” is getting the keys to create the narrative of what black is in television right now
Where are the modern day Robert Townsend or Keenan Ivory Wayans at
