SMF and LAX to VA and NC
NOTE:

These figures are all based on self-identified, non-Hispanic blacks, and includes anybody who self-identified with a black ethnicity (so yes, this includes Caribs). We all realize that virtually all blacks of the diaspora are "mixed" or biracial/multiracial; however, self-identified multiracial blacks only account for about 1.8% of US population, and only about 12.9% of all blacks...

The total black population is estimated to be 14.1%, population 46,261,485. That includes self-identified Afro-Latinos, blasians, black/whites, Native/blacks, etc...

Because the figures I posted specifically reference only those who represent themselves as black, it goes without saying that virtually every city's black population ticks upward once you account for all combinations of blacks. So for example, the total population of all people who identify with at least part black in NY is 26.1% (up from 21.7% just black)...

In LA, its 9.9% (8.4% just black); in Chi, its 30.7% (29%); in DC, its 47.5% (44.4%); in Houston, its 23.3% (22%). And so on and so forth...

This is just a personal thing, but just speaking for myself, alot of people who self-identify as multi-racially black dissociate themselves from the larger black experience, and because of that, I don't feel a particular sense to include those who exclude their blackness, but I'll double back and post all of the combined, total black populations if you guys request that...

And I did I similar thread as this a few months back with the 2017 ACS figures, but now that '18 is available thread needed an update and I can't find the old thread I created...

Most of the list is not surprising since most of these cities are either run down or very expensive cities battling gentrification but I’d like to know the backstory of the cities i bolded and why black people are leaving these places.

Minneapolis and Phoenix is suprising from a growth perspective I didn't know many blacks lived there.

u see 5 cali cities not suprising.

the cali rent kicking them out with gentrification.

Chicago suprising I didn't expect a decline from the chi

I’d like to know why black people are leaving both Chicago and Philly.

But I know crime is probably a big reason for it.

Austin Texas?

What the hell that gotta be a damn lie! All I see is black folk moving OUT.

When I traveled to New Orleans last week many of the black residents felt the same way about their city.

Must be another class of black folks moving in.
