IMO I don't think paler skin is made for certain climates like those of which are hot and humid since it didn't evolve for that to of climate. Always we have to consider pale skin is only recent in homo sapiens; say only 5000-7000 years. While darker skin is around 100,000 or more years. My hypothesis for why "black don't crack" could be that darker skinned just evolved on this earth much earlier and so it has adapted to harsher climates longer than paler skin. That's just what I think.
