I know someone who literally moves every year when her rent goes up
She never had an issue renting in Brooklyn or anywhere else
for The record Im not discounting this sister experience, I just need more information. Maybe it’s something different about her search. Like is she trying to get into exclusive cac buildings where a board needs to approve you, etc

Yea I worked there from 2015-2017.
I left to complete grad school. My thesis combined with 2 classes had me missing a lot of days from work so I left plus my job at the DOT wasn’t in my field.
What job are you applying for and are you with NYC DOT or NYS DOT?

So they are like "naw we cant have this woman looking better than us" if she made average salary and was soft shoeing it up, they would be treating her like RENT ... new black buddy in town. Its just weird the cycle where they want black folks to stay down, criticize them for being down... then when you come up, they wanna say you are too high now.
This happened to my clients before. Two black doctors with loads of money and great credit. White landlord turned them down and told me straight up, no blacks! I asked him if he was crazy and pointed out they are loaded but he didn’t budge. I felt bad telling them what happened. They were so nice and gracious. My bytch ass manager at the time didn’t want to pursue it. I told him the dikkhead should be sued or at least reported to the dept. of discrimination. Dude said nah, we do a lot of business with him smh.

There's one caveat to it though, an ivy league degree opens wayyyyyyyy more doors when it comes to getting into any type of professional school.
They'll take a 3.0 student from an ivy over a 3.6 from a state university. That prestige is gold to them
