& Chrissie has a valid point., but I can't make a valid review until I actually see the movie though.

& White women have room to play "masculine," roles and to have roles that don't necessarily make them objects of desire because White women are always the ones portrayed as feminine, beautiful, light & airy objects of desires 99.9% of the time.I personally don't have a problem with this movie, but when it exists with no other movies that show Dark Skin Black Women as feminine objects of desire, that is where the problem is.

Now this movie could actually surprise me, because right now no one knows who is going to be portrayed as what, we have only seen bits and pieces from the trailer. But yes, I am going to be paying close attention to how Dark Skin Black Women are going to be portrayed because they get such little air time.
What from that trailer makes you believe they will be protrayed as masculine and sexless? Are Darkskin Black women not allowed to be superheroes until they make a romantic film with one? In the early press screenings for the film, there's a scene we're the Dora are described as laughing and dancing together. They don't look physically masculine to me and I don't think their going to be portrayed that way either.

It must suck to be a woman and place so much importance on media. It's like the option to turn it off doesn't exist for them.

If I were to write a dissertation like that about fictional characters adapted from a comic book, I'd feel like a straight loser.

Alot of these "black feminists" are just bored and lonely and have unresolved self esteem issues (due to White supremacy). Just browsing through her channel she seems to get all of her content and social cues from Hollywood, TV and celebs.

This is from her bio:

Description
I am a colorism activist and a specialist in business marketing with a focus in promotion, advertisement and consumer behavior. I use my business skills to brand black women and improve the current lack of positive black female media representation. I spread my message passionately for the empowerment of black people and to improve the self esteem, self worth and confidence of dark skinned women negatively affected by colorism. If you don't like, agree or identify with my niche, this channel isn't for you.

All donations will go towards the upcoming Divine Dark Skin magazine (DDS Magazine) and towards the improvement of my channel. Please follow Divine Dark Skin on Facebook for recent and upcoming information. Thank you so much for your support.

It is crazy how y'all think the media should have such "little," influence.America is ran on the media.America is ran by consumerism. The media plays a major factor in our society. There is a reason why companies spend millions when it comes to tv shows, commercials, movies, etc.People are more sheep-like than you think, even if they claim not to be.

& I don't think it's fair to ask Black women to not be "affected," by the media.

Lol Women Make Up 85% of All Consumer Purchases

They are manipulating and taking advantage of women.

You do know you're allowed to turn off the tv, log off social media, and do something of substance with your life...

Men are also affected. The media is the foundation of America.I think what you are asking of Women is very unrealistic.Even when you try to escape it you can't escape it.If you try to "escape," the media, your friend wants to watch this. that and the third at the movies, your kids want to go see a new movie coming out, etc. The media=America. That's just what it is.& We have to be mindful of how black women are being portrayed.Yes, those images are important and I feel like you are trying to suggest that they are not.

Once you unplug yourself, you'll have the uncanny ability to consume media, recognize the agendas being presented to you, and not allow those presentations to affect you mentally.

I think it's because I'm from the country and went almost the first 10 years of my life with about 3 channels, but i don't look for validation in the media. I don't look for heroes or role models.

Turn off the t.v. for a while, go outside, gain a new perspective on life. Stop letting rich white men emotionally abuse you to stimulate a failing economy

I didn't say sexless, however I see warriors and I see a bald head. You may associate those things with femininity, but our society does not. Those things, are often associated with masculinity.& I don't need just one film that shows a Dark Skin Black Woman as the object of desire, I need several.& They don't even have to be romantic films either, there is a movie coming out called "Atomic Blonde," staring Charlize Theron,& not only is she the protagonist, but she is also seen as the object of the desire & strong as well.I need for Dark Skin Black Women to have access to that same arena of diverse roles that White & light Women have access to.

But once again, I don't know all of what Black Panther has in store, but I will be paying close attention.

First off, the movie doesn't take place in your culture. If you are expecting them to all be wearing weave you will be disappointed
Secondly, Wakanda is a warrior nation. You can't really compare it to Atomic Blonde where she is a spy and using sexual subterfuge.
Now, your ideal movie for black women may be a black version of Atomic Blonde, and that's fine.:yeshrug:

But there are some of us (men and women) who want to see black women portrayed as equally capable warriors with the men without having to resort to "Sexy Ex Machina" to get out of situations (which is what happens in Atomic Blonde)
