The key word here is your friends. How many of them nikkas was serious about a film career in the first place? How much time had they put in to their craft before you approached them with your ideas? The fact that you even solicited your friends first instead of some nikkas who actually do it for real

If you actually took the time to read my whole post you would see at the bottom where I said a majority of these ideas were their ideas and yes many of them had experience on some level doing this just not in the capacity of what they were trying to do.

Again, not trying to be funny, but what projects have you put together? Cuz I am doing this independently out my own pocket not being backed by anyone else or a corporation. You don't have the money to do it how it's "Supposed" to be done all the time. Sometimes you gotta just get out there and make it happen.

The one thing I learned from years of doing this is the bullshytters love to bring up money when no one asked them too. If your project is worthwhile a lot of professionals and especially film students will waive their rates, especially in a Z market where there aren't many projects and options to begin with. It's the truth Did you attempt to post any crew calls when it became apparent your homies weren't up to par?

I've produced/directed/shot/edited dozens of music videos and short films and I currently run a black film organization in San Francisco. I know of what I speak.

And yeah I've been there, at the end of the day though doing any creative enterprise is all about connections. You may not have the circle to get your projects off the ground now which is why you have to forge a better network by doing favors for the professionals you'll ask for favors down the road. When you're not already plugged in, that's how it works.

I have done the networking with universities and colleges and yes I have met people. Keep in mind these are experiences from the past 20 years so some of the shyt I'm mentioning is 15-20 years ago. And not every single project I do has this happened but I understand the necessity of getting a project done vs having the crew you wish.

Since you have a resume, you know the struggle. A lot of people expect you to pick up camera and not make mistakes.

Speaking for myself I wouldn't take such a project. That is why reading the script/treatment before you accept working on a project is a must.
