I'm at work (I work in a damn near all Black area in Southwest ATL) and I see this Hispanic family posted up with a sign "LOST MY JOB, HAVE 3 KIDS, ANY HELP APPRECIATED, GOD BLESS).

These Black folks over here givin money like it's Sunday church collection time.

I can only imagine how much (lack of) help a Black man with the same sign in an all Hispanic area would get.

Now I'm not saying we need to be cruel but damn why are we so compassionate to others that wouldn't help us?

because it's human nature, some people have no humanity.

there have been plenty days where I've had only a few dollars to my name and would pull up to a red light where a homeless person is asking for money and I'll give it to them, no matter what race they are because I can't consciously roll up the window and look the other way without feeling like I'm doing something terribly wrong.

Thats just how black people naturally are. Where we come from resources were abundant. There was no reason to fukk each other over or be greedy.

But now we're in america we better get with the times. You can't beat'em, join'em. I'm far from compassionate.

During and since slavery, black people have been encultured to think like children. Children don't understand social context, so they play with whomever and have to be told not to talk to strangers.

So, black people deal with other races like children would. Indiscrimate openness even at their own expense. This is both the beauty of children and in cases of people who take advantage of children, their downfall. While others deal with us like adults. Wary and always looking for the return benefit.

But even beyond slavery, we have always been a welcoming people. But in every instance in African history, whether in or outside of Africa, those that have enjoyed our hospitality have ended up taking advantage of it and turning on their host.
