I had a project i did for a sociology class... on how people perceive "accurate" representations of themselves.

Two simple questions was asked.


" In a movie, with 100 actors/actresses...all with equal importance and screen time....you notice there are only 13 blacks. What do you think about this?"

" How many black actors in this movie would be an accurate representation of the total population of blacks as a whole ?"

I wasn't really going that route with it, more so how if blacks realized how small of the population they are.. how exactly would it affect their opinions on representation in the media, hollywood etc.

America loves number games and when it comes to Black people, if it's numbers for something positive it's small however, if it's numbers for something negative it's huge.

I personally do not believe we are only 13% of the population. You also have to take in account how many people do not fill out the census forms either.

well, they're always looking at the percentages instead of total numbers.

example. whites would have us believe blacks on welfare is whats dragging the economy down. meanwhile, the amount of whites receiving welfare trumps the entire black population in US.
