The south > Bakersfield. I been there for work and it’s nothing there but nature I went downtown and it was empty lol.

And at the facility I was at, there was only one black person. The rest were Latinos. And of course, many in management were white.

Ive grown reluctant to even refer to locales as black communities. We don't have the political power to live where we want and o. perrpetually maintain our presence (by choice not happenstance) anywhere

Racism in America is always going to make black neighborhoods undervalued regardless of it they're nice or not. There's a major boulevard in my city that has a black neighborhood on one side and a white neighborhood on the other. The white side has iron fence gates cutting off the streets to it so you can't access it from the black side. It's literally the same neighborhood with the same size houses but the white side houses are valued at 800k-a mil and the black side houses are valued a 300k. The black side has a lake on it and white people own the houses on it and they're all valued at 800k-a mil. A million dollar home being across the street from a 300k home is illogical but so is racism.

I'm a perfect world black people would be renting their houses to the gentrifiers of this world and sitting in the suburbs collecting rent checks while their property values skyrocket.

Be it Redlining or Outright Racism, your skin color will put a ceiling on the value of your property, whether you live in the Burbs, Hood, or on the Prairie.

Stories like this make me sick. I love seeing black people being successful and it's sad that they have to go out of their way to be deceptive, just to get a fair shot.

House appraisals are junk though. It's probably something that will get taken over by AI

We already know home appraisals and values are lower when in black and Hispanic neighborhoods. That's that systematic CISM we be talking about.

My neighborhood subdivision is majority upper black middle class but know it'd be even higher with appraisal values if it were majority cac.

An older sibling of mine owned a home in a mixed neighborhood back in the 90s. When it came time to sell and a few weeks without an offer, their Black real estate agent told them to remove their family photos or replace them with photos of a White family. My sibling got multiple offers the following week after following that advice. Its sad, but a reality. I use to tell this story for years, and most White folks wouldn't believe me until news reports like the one I linked started airing on TV.

If you have kids or plan to have kids, buy a home in a neighborhood with a good school district. There's a connection between good schools and high home values.
