Why not just ask the Caribbean country your family is from for Reparations?
Exactly

Tf is this? You got a whole country to go back to and ask for reparations.

Did she and her people go through 400 years of bullshyt here, and had the entire country against their progression here?

And every Black American she just named identifies as just that… a black American.

My issue with this is that I think it was something that could’ve been debatable, but her lack of verbal intelligence, accent, delivery, and the fact that she had to throw FBA folks under the bus to get her point across (instead of attavking her countries government or white people) and thats shyt A LOT of them do over here.

This is why people be like fukk yall nikkas. Every black American she named put in work HERE, as an African American, no matter where their ancestors might have came from. All of them came from Africa so whats her point?

Lol she lost me mentioning Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and hip-hop. A lot of the proposed stipulations on reparations have a set time when a person's ancestors were in the US. Descendants of Malcolm and Marcus would qualify under some of the qualifications I've seen. But if your folks came over after the Civil Rights Movement? :camby:

Maybe they need another pot of money lol. Don't decrease my portion

Yeah it's like people never took a class or studied Imperialism. Go to the country that colonized your people for Reparations

- If you're from Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, etc go to France for your Reparations
- If you're from Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, etc go to the UK for your Reparations
- If you're from Guam, American Samoa, or native Hawaiian, go to the US for your Reparations
- If you're from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, etc go to the UK for your Reparations
- And so on

It’s common sense but it’s not common these days and it comes from the loudest, most uninformed people.

Yes, I didn't realize how recent they got independence. My mom was telling us stories about they had them singing all these "england will never be slaves" songs in school (Trinidad).

But I dunno what girl in the op is talking about. Caribbean Islands have their qualms against the respective European countries.
Exactly this. I was shocked to learn a lot of countries in that region got their independence in like 1960s For some reason I thought we got it much earlier than that.

I agree that for the Caribbean islands we have to get our reparation from European countries. I just wonder how all of that will work because many migrated out of the islands.

I don't like people like the woman in the OP because we have no claims to American reparations. it's starting a discussion that shouldn't be had between Americans and people from the Caribbean islands. It is something that should be happening for all of us but we have our own claim like Americans have their own claim

And for all the shyt FBA’s went through here, we never get to have shyt that is our own. We share/split everything our ancestors HERE fought for, with every single minority and we get shytted on while they benefit from it.

The hypocrisy… i don’t think a single American would ever fix their face to go to another country and ask for reparations for that countries slavery.

Your country is fukked up? Ok…So is ours, different level and different scale… especially against US, actual FBA’s.

You came here for “a better life” and “The American Dream”… that was ONLY possible because of FBA’s. You can always take your ball and go home.. we can’t that easily.

You really have to thank black Americans for paving the way for these other groups to exist here unbothered for the most part.

The treatment of Caribbean blacks and Americans black mirrored each other for the most part but it was what happened after slavery ended that really sets black Americans apart from the rest.

It has historical significance. She may have went to far with hiphop. But yall did claim Kool Herc invented hiphop for years. And yall yold me whoever the creator was is the owner of the genre, which i told yall was nonsense.

"Malcolm X admired Marcus Garvey and considered him a major influence. He saw Garvey as a precursor to his own Black nationalism and a leader who instilled pride and self-reliance in Black people. Malcolm's parents were followers of Garvey, and he himself was exposed to Garvey's teachings from a young age. Malcolm frequently spoke about Garvey, acknowledging him as a powerful force in the Black community and a source of inspiration. "

The idea reperatians is soley based on slavery is laughable and hurts the case for reperations. But many of you would rather keep it that way just to keep non FBAs from getting a piece. This is cutting off your nose to spite your face. The greatest shot at reperations would be something that would be inclusive of non FBA. But luckily yall dont speak for all FBA so we can debate about this.
