What a shame. It's so rare to see Ethiopians in that industry. It's normally a bunch of Nigerians and a few Kenyans.

I've only ever met one Ethiopian in tech. Admittedly, that particular Ethiopian lamented to me about how much he despised coding, so I don't know if he counts...


But Im still curious what Ethiopians specialize in in the US. While I admittedly don't live in their hotspots like DC , I rarely see them outside of their ethnic food establishments. Also , for some strange reason I noticed they run the Denver airport at night during a layover.

probably imposter syndrome and then poor work/life balance, especially in tech. Coding a passion project is completely different from working in a FAANG company.

Most ethiopians usually are encouraged to be a doctor or engineer. Recently law has started to also be acceptable in the community.

Probably a lot of pressure to maintain your lifestyle.

You want the good job, the house, the cars, wife and kids. Then you get it and relalize you got to maintain it the next 20 years. The grind don't stop.
