some valid points no question...... so basically b/c kanye isn't perfect he can't speak out on societal ills now?? b/c his job is to make music w/ch turns a profit and the success of his projects insures he is able to continue making music he can't speak on the disparity btwn classes simply b/c his success has placed him in a higher social class?? does this journalist not see the quagmire in entertainers situations when those artists want to make conscious material that reaches the masses? I'm sure this black journalist got a nice pat on the back from several white hands for this. good work......

But there are entertainers who are raising awareness about a problem, ensuring they are not contributing to the problem, and then funneling resources to address that problem

From what the article is referencing, Ye as a celebrity, hasn't been consistent with the "racial problems" in politics, fashion, and entertainment
-He speaks about it, but is he ensuring that he's not contributing to that problem?
-Is he funneling resources to address that problem he speaks of?
-Is this a marketing rant by Ye to sell albums, so on his next album he's back to promoting a corporation calling himself the LV Don?

These are legit points that the writer mentions. It has nothing to do with Ye not being allowed to speak about societal ills because he living a good life, it has more to do with his perceived inability to ensure that he's is not contributing to same negative environment that he's condeming and profiting from

I don't really get how he's a hypocrite? He complains about himself being addicted to hoes, addicted to materialism, he talks bad about the excess consumption, but criticizes himself as a part of the problem.

Real hypocrites lift themselves out of the equation, from what I know.. Kanye incorporates himself in the equation.

There's multiple things I criticize Kanye about, being a hypocrite is not one of them.

Show me the quotes, where he's wrong.

"Some white girls and some Kelly Rowlands" and using the N-word doesn't cut it.
Or maybe one can try to score some points with the former, cause it says that Kanye separates people by their race. But if that's being a hypocrite, then everyone who's against racism that ever said anything about people's race, even in a positive manner, is a hypocrite.

Like they say, admitting you have a problem is the first step to overcoming it....it's not the only step. So Ye incorporating himself and admitting to his short comings does not take away from his responsibility to not contribute/promote to the same subject he critique

Let's not pretend that some folks who mention their short comings are not also bragging about it to. We see this regularly when it comes to dudes who are fawking alot of bytches OR dudes who spent time in jail

He doesn't seem to think that he has a responsibility, it's not like he's promoting crime or anything that's actually bad. Being materialistic and on only fuels the economy given that you can afford it. Impregnating white/Arab bytches and yet being a strong advocate for racial equality only means that he actually treats and sees everyone as his equal holding everything else equal and on.

I don't feel that a musician owes me shyt besides what I pay for, I pay for good music from a real person. Responsibility and all that shyt is the parents, states etc's jobs. That is, if you are making entertainment for grown ass people.

He doesn't seem to think he has responsibility because fans and celeb obsessed society make excuses for why a person with media access should not have any responsibility in the messages they promote that affects "regular" folks, that do not have media access. Just like you did, "bu bu it's not like he promoting crime, he talks about being materialistic." Then he critiques folks for being materialistic and the corporations for fueling their materialistic urges

You control the media, you control how people think

In order for a society to thrive, individual responsibility must be complimented by societal responsibility, and vice versa. If you choose to focus blame on one entity over the other, then you are not being intellectually honest about the problems in soceity
