However, note that this was a woman surrounded by five men and could not leave.

You do not need five men surrounding a Black woman with weapons.
Generally, others ethnic groups exercise the "Benefit Of Doubt." So no matter what, surrounding a Black woman with five foreign men with weapons and no way to leave is not a good look, period. Therefore, the reaction makes sense.
