So even after you read the OP and clicked on the link Call Me James posted, you decided to ignore it and still went around saying BS about this man and the reason he won not once but twice.

That I don't want ANY person getting some sort of political position at the city level because they took their shirt off and raised their fist at a protest against police.

because he wanted to win and the kind of people that come out to vote AND at the same time be inclined to vote for him are democrats. it's why bernie sanders ran as a democrat when he more than most could have easily ran as an independent as he does as a senator or with another party. the kind of people that would be receptive to what he had to say reside in the democratic party and that was his best chance of being president. it's not complicated, there are two major parties and people get in where they fit in. it's why your heroes like alex jones and the like vote republican even though some republicans don't like them, the people who speak to them reside in the republican party.

So we're knocking a guy for going a step further instead of just protesting and actually taking the initiative to run for a city council seat? An office that actually would be better served by being staffed by everyday people instead of "elites"? He didn't run for president.

To be honest, the fact Trump is president doesn't mean that every level of office needs to be staffed by Ivy league, prepped since grade school to be a leader, individuals. The government, not just the federal government is supposed to be represented by the people and a city council should be staffed by people local to the area and MORE everyday people should get involved at this level.

This is part of the problem with Democrats in that they do not actually engage in the political process as much on a day to day level as Republicans.

Quite frankly, I'm tired of nikkas on this board in general who think cynicism and being negative all the god damn time makes them more enlightened. City council is very basic level stuff. Its not a federal congressional seat or part of the federal executive. This is something that should be staffed by someone who you live next to or they guy down the street. Someone who understands day to day life in your area.

But dudes always got to come in topics like this and throw salt on shyt. Deserves to get at.

Anyways, from what I've heard him say, his general goal on the city council is to build a better relationship between police and his neighborhood. That is good enough for me to say "I should get more directly involved in the political process to help make this happen".
