A scuffle broke out at a Walmart in Brandon, Florida on Tuesday after Michael Foster, 43, tackled Clarence Daniels, a 63-year-old African American, to the ground when he noticed that the man had a gun.


Daniels was legally permitted to carry his gun as he possesses a concealed carry permit. Foster originally saw Daniel’s holster the gun on his hip in the parking lot, and when Daniel was searching for coffee creamer for his wife, the gun was revealed to Foster, who resorted to racist tendencies and tackled Daniels to the ground.


“He’s got a gun!” Foster shouted according to deputies.


“I have a permit!” shouted Daniels in his defense, according to police spokesman Larry McKinnon.


When police arrived, they broke the two men up, and Foster was arrested and charged with battery.


“Unfortunately he tackled a guy that was a law-abiding citizen,” McKinnon said. “We understand it’s alarming for people to see other people with guns, but Florida has a large population of concealed weapons permit holders.”


Instead of calling 911 or alerting security, Foster took the law into his own hands, which is illegal, and in this case, extremely racist.


“You better make sure there’s a good reason,” added McKinnon. “Otherwise you might be confronting a guy that is legally permitted to carry a gun.”
